Conditions vs. Record Rights
As noted in other sections, conditions and record rights are mutually exclusive. The system cannot use both within a single rule. If you have both defined, Millennium® 3 will ignore the Record Rights sub-page and use the Conditions sub-page.
Millennium® 3 uses both to narrow down the data a role/user can see, but the difference is:
- Record rights allow for general filtering
- Conditions allow for selective access
Another way to remember the difference is:
- If you want to simply show or hide blocks of data, use record rights.
- If you want to fine-tune under what circumstances that data is available or what can be done to the data, use conditions.
The conditions can be used together to make particular pieces of data available to the role/user. The Record Rights setting would simply make larger pieces of data available or not.
