Task 2 – Run the MPI_1403 Report

This topic explains how to set up the report to help you determine your company’s large employer status. This is the second major task you must complete in working with the employer shared responsibility portion of the ACAClosed Affordable Care Act.

The MPI_1403 ACA Large Employer Estimate report provides employers with a tool to estimate the company’s large employer status when they have a mix of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.

See MPI_1403 ACA Large Employer Estimate Report for complete information about that report.

Overview

When determining whether a company is an Applicable Large Employer (ALE), the Final regulations requires the employee’s full-time and part-time status should be calculated based on actual hours worked during the prior calendar year. The Final regulations do not allow the look back period measurement test to determine ALE.

To determine ALE, the company must determine the total number of full-time and full-time equivalent employees for each calendar month of the year. They must then determine the average full-time/FTEs per month for the calendar year.
